Pilot Factory Milestone: Opening ReGEN Biomedical
We proudly announce the opening of ReGEN Biomedical, the macro tissue pilot line of the RegMed XB Pilot Factory on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
This momentous occasion marks another step forward in our commitment to offer a unique regenerative medicine infrastructure that consists of facilities covering the entire chain of development and production of stem cells, mini-organs, tissues and smart (bio)materials.
The macro tissue pilot line, located in Maastricht in the vicinity of Brightlands Health Campus, is designed to produce GMP grade robust and reproducible pieces of tissue on large scale, making it affordable and ultimately accessible to all patients. Applications for these tissues may vary from toxicity or drug screening or ex vivo disease models, to ATMP’s such as allogeneic tissue transplants.
"We are extremely delighted," says the CEO Prof. Marianne van der Steen. "Because a lot of hard work has been put in over the past year to establish this facility. Three years ago, Professor Clemens van Blitterswijk and I, as founders of ReGEN Biomedical, embarked on the design and construction of the pilotline.”
About the Pilot Factory
The RegMed XB Pilot Factory is one of the largest international infrastructures for regenerative medicine. It brings together all the expertise and infrastructure needed to bring regenerative medicine to the market. Our mission is to accelerate the development of new solutions for chronic diseases and to bring affordable regenerative medicine therapies to patients.
Next to ReGEN Biomedical, the other pilot lines are located in Leiden (NecstGen, LUMC), Utrecht (ICAT/UMCU) and in Eindhoven (SBMC). We look forward to the positive impact of the RegMed XB Pilot Factory.
