Smart Biomaterials Consortium is on a roll!

  • Intro: On November 3rd 2022,  exactly one year after the first meeting of the founders, the stakeholders of Smart Biomaterials Consortium gathered for the official start of the new shared development lab in Brainport Eindhoven. Martijn van Gruijthuijzen, Provincial Executive Deputy of the province of North Brabant, performed the opening. Smart Biomaterials Consortium (SBMC) is one of the pilot lines from the RegMed XB Pilot Factory for regenerative medicine.

SBMC got off to a flying start. The consortium now consists of 43 innovative companies, the first customer has registered, the first collaborations are taking shape, the team is at full strength and ready to roll!

Shared development laboratories

The shared development laboratories of the SBMC pilot line, located in the vicinity of Eindhoven University of Technology, will be used by consortium members to optimize the processing and fabrication of biomaterials products, and evaluate its safety, efficacy and biological response. SBMC staff is available to guide the use of equipment and optimization and to carry out contract manufacturing assignments.

Pilot production facility

SBMC is also developing a state-of-the-art pilot production facility for industrial scale fabrication of biomaterials and biodegradable implants adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures.
