RegMed XB at the state banquet honouring Japan's Emperor and Empress
On the evening of Wednesday 17 June, RegMed XB General Director Bernard Mulder attended the state banquet at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
The banquet was hosted by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima in honour of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan, during the Japanese state visit to the Netherlands.
The invitation reflects the strong and warm ties between the Netherlands and Japan — a friendship that now spans 426 years — and the part that regenerative medicine has come to play in that relationship.
A partnership built on shared goals
For RegMed XB, the evening was an acknowledgement of the collaboration it has built with its Japanese partners in regenerative medicine and healthcare innovation. The organisation works through formal partnerships with The Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine (JSRM) and with Nakanoshima Qross in Osaka and its chairman, Professor Yoshiki Sawa. These partnerships are built around a single, shared ambition: bringing regenerative medicine from the lab to patients.
During the banquet, Bernard Mulder was seated next to Hiroshi Minami, former Japanese Ambassador to the Netherlands, a welcome reminder that bilateral ties such as these rest, above all, on personal relationships.
With thanks
RegMed XB's agreements with its Japanese partners would not be what they are today without the support of Marc Kuipers, former Consul-General in Osaka, whose contribution was instrumental, and Sandra Pellegrom, the current Consul-General, who continues to champion the collaboration. RegMed XB extends its sincere thanks to them both.
An evening like this is a reminder of how much can be achieved when we work across borders together.
