Prof. Dr. Marlies Reinders
Prof.dr. M.E.J. Reinders is Professor of Internal Medicine and has been a Member of the Executive Board of Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Leiden University since October 1, 2024. Her chair focuses on Internal Medicine, innovation in education and research.
She studied Medicine in Groningen (RUG). From 2000 to 2002, she conducted her PhD research in Boston at Harvard Medical School in the field of kidney transplantation. As an internist-nephrologist she worked at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) (2009-2020) and the Erasmus MC (2020-2024). From 2020 to 2024, she was head of the Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation Department and chair of the Erasmus MC Transplant Institute (2023-2024). Marlies Reinders was chair of the Dutch Transplant Association (2016-2021) and a member of the Eurotransplant Board and the educational committees of the European Society of Transplantation (ESOT) and The Transplantation Society (TTS). In addition, she was chair of the European Cell Therapy and Organ Regeneration Section (ECTORS) of ESOT and co-chair of the Leiden Teachers' Academy (2019-2020) at Leiden University.
