Medical Scientific Director RegMed XB speaks at ISCT Annual Meeting
The ISCT Annual Meeting is the largest global forum about cell and gene therapy that took places in Paris from May 31 – June 3 2023. With the theme 'Celebrating the progress of advanced therapies and building the future through translation,' ISCT 2023 draws from international experts across academic, regulatory and industry spheres with the purpose of building consensus to drive the field forward.
Prof. Dr. Frank Luyten, Medical Scientific Director at RegMed XB, talked about the role of clinical centers during the overarching session ‘Launch and patient access’, which consist of five different sessions each with an own subtopic. During these sessions, experts explore what needs to happen in the coming years to realize the potential of advanced therapies including cell, gene, and tissue engineering. The sessions will integrate important perspectives that will shape post-launch success focusing on investment, scaling manufacturing and global distribution, driving patient access, integrating into clinical practice, and navigating regulatory oversight to achieve market success and greater global availability.
Frank was invited to speak during one of the five sessions titled ‘The required changes for broad and early accessible cellular therapies: the role of clinical centers’ in which he shares his knowledge about working with clinical centers as sponsors in trials. Frank is an expert in bridging the gap between bench and bedside and making a successful translation of innovative treatments to patients and the market, which is what he is responsible for within RegMed XB. Next to that, he gained much of his knowledge as Co-founder of TiGenix. TiGenix developed ChondroCelect™, the first cell based ATMP with central registration at the European Medicines Agency.
