Damage-Associated Molecular Patterns in Myocardial Infarction and Heart Transplantation: The Road to Translational Success

Selma Kaffka genaamd Dengler, Clémence Odille, Mudit Mishra, Niels van der Kaaij, Pieter Doevensdans, Joost Sluijter and Saskia de Jager from the University Medical Center Utrecht published the paper “Damage-Associated Molecular Patterns in Myocardial Infarction and Heart Transplantation: The Road to Translational Success” discussing the current evidence of involvement of Damage-Associated Molecular Patterns (DAMPs) and Pattern Recognition Receptors (PRRs) in the inflammatory response after Myocardial Infarction (MI) and Heart Transplantation (Htx). Furthermore, it also discusses various current therapeutic approaches targeting this complex interplay and provide possible reasons why clinical translation still fails.
