Symposium on Regenerative Medicine in Osaka Japan and online

  • Intro: On Friday the 19th of May 2023, from 09.30 – 11.30, The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Osaka organizes the second day of the symposium on Regenerative Medicine in the Netherlands and Japan. With over 300 attendees, the first day of this hybrid event was a resounding success and a true showcase of the vibrant scientific community in both countries.

Technological advances are revolutionizing the healthcare system, but at the same time, an aging population and changing lifestyles are rapidly increasing the number of people with chronic diseases and those in need of 'care'. Regenerative medicine is a new treatment focused on repairing cell, tissue, and organ damage that can 'prevent' or 'cure' chronic diseases.

In the Netherlands, under the slogan "From Care to Cure", the Regenerative Medicine Top Cluster (Leiden, Utrecht, Eindhoven, Maastricht, and Leuven (Belgium)) in the Netherlands is aiming to create regenerative medicine solutions from symptomatic treatment of chronic diseases to prevention and cure. They have united and started a public-private partnership called RegMed XB in 2016. With several medical foundations, top-class researchers, companies, and governmental instances as its members, RegMed XB is actively addressing the ambitious challenges in regenerative medicine and has built a strong infrastructure that brings together top-class experts and companies in the field. At this symposium, RegMed XB and its partner institutions will introduce cutting-edge projects in the Netherlands.

We are also pleased to announce that prominent Japanese professors who are leading the world's regenerative medicine will be speaking at this symposium. On May 19th, the panel discussion will go into the possibilities for collaboration between Japan and the Netherlands in various fields, from research to commercialization, from the laboratory to the patient. This symposium will be the kick-off event for the realization of the Japan-Netherlands ‘Partnership’, which is expected to lead to the Osaka-Kansai Expo in 2025, and beyond.

We hope to welcome you at the symposium on regenerative medicine on the 19th of May 2023, where we will delve deeper into the social implementation and commercialization models of regenerative medicine.
Let’s build a healthy society together!
