Building Tomorrow's Healthcare Together

At RegMed XB, we believe in the power of coordinated collaboration. Our role is to promote and facilitate cooperation, enhancing the dynamic ecosystem of regenerative medicine. We foster collaboration among industry partners, researchers, and other stakeholders to develop innovative solutions for treating chronic diseases using regenerative medicine.

Regenerative Medicine Ecosystem

Our ambition to deliver regenerative solutions to patients faster and more affordably necessitates effective coordinated collaboration. This forms the cornerstone of our healthcare improvement endeavors. The manner in which we pursue this ambition is detailed in our educational plan, which is designed to promote research excellence, societal engagement, and entrepreneurship within the RegMed XB ecosystem.

The structure of RegMed XB is based on 5 Pillars (Fig.1). Overarching these 5 pillars is a focus on 'Ecosystem development'.

The 'Ecosystem' encompasses a network of researchers, patients, institutes, companies, health foundations, regulatory bodies, governments, healthcare insurers, investors, etc., all contributing interactively to the development of the moonshots.

RegMed XB not only accelerates solutions on an incidental basis but also systematically drives them towards patients and markets. These structural solutions require sustainable reinforcement of the ecosystem and culture. Therefore, the educational plan aims to cultivate research and development skills as well as entrepreneurial acumen among all researchers involved in RegMed XB, enhancing their awareness of the societal impact of their work.

The educational plan of RegMed XB targets three important areas: research excellence, society, and entrepreneurship (Fig.2). It consists of a range of courses, seminars, and workshops aimed at increasing understanding and collaboration across these domains. These educational opportunities are open to all members of RegMed XB, with specific goals tailored to each pillar. For instance, researchers can choose research-specific courses to enhance their work in the Moonshot projects and further their scientific abilities and career. They may also participate in courses on Intellectual Property (IP & valorization) or attend workshops on involving expert patients or interacting with the public.

We foster interaction between all three areas. Patients and the public are invited to explore more about RegMed XB and engage in discussions with researchers annually, deepening their understanding of the societal impact of regenerative medicine.

RegMed XB encourages academics, patients, and entrepreneurs to broaden their knowledge by engaging them in the RegMed XB society and exposing them to all the possibilities the RegMed XB ecosystem offers. Our goal is to prepare today's talents to become tomorrow's leaders, successfully impacting patients' lives and society.

Patient Driven

Everything we do is informed by and programed from the patient’s perspective. We work with “Moonshots”: breakthroughs for patients that we have unbundled into “roadmaps” with intermediate deliverables that are both needed to realize the longer-term breakthrough and real improvements for patients in the short and medium-term.

Crossing Borders

RegMed XB operates on a growth model that transcends boundaries, both in terms of disciplinary fields and geographical borders. The pioneering nature of our research demands this approach, while the commitment of our partners makes it achievable. While we initially launched with four Moonshots in the first five years, the dynamic nature of our work means new research projects will continually emerge, leading to a growth in both partners and budget.

Our aspiration is for RegMed XB to emerge as a preeminent European institute in regenerative medicine and to attain global recognition as a leader in valorization within this field. We recognize that research into complex diseases knows no bounds and extends beyond national borders. Our vision entails aligning initiatives worldwide to address relevant disease areas, leveraging each country's strengths while ensuring a coordinated effort towards curing chronic diseases.

We are commencing our journey by collaborating with the Netherlands and Flanders. By harnessing their collective strengths in research depth and quality, as well as their innovative business practices, we aim to drive impactful progress. If you are interested in joining RegMed XB as a region, country, or initiative, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we can advance the frontiers of regenerative medicine for the betterment of all.

Health Foundations

Dutch health foundations advocate for a better life for people with chronic diseases and thus play a crucial role in defining the ultimate cure using Regenerative Medicine. The following health foundations are partners in the RegMed XB ecosystem. They are involved in defining research objectives and provide guidance in the research we conduct to ensure we maintain focus on the patient.

Academic Partners

RegMed XB aims to effectively use the knowledge available in the Academic Ecosystem to help the Moonshots progress to the Patient. To this end, RegMed XB works together with (inter)national top-rated academic institutions and collaborates specifically and exclusively with researchers who contribute specific expertise to the Moonshot initiatives.

Currently, RegMed XB partners with different universities and university medical centers. The scientists and clinicians involved in the program bring their expertise within their specific fields into the research, which combined creates a significant pool of knowledge.

Industrial Partners

In order to realize the ambition of RegMed XB to bring solutions to patients on a large scale, the regenerative medicine (RM) products we develop must be commercialized. This ensures large-scale production and efficient production methods to reduce costs. Furthermore, the expertise within the RegMed XB ecosystem can accelerate the development of new and existing products from emerging RM companies.

Partnering with companies offers access to their expertise in designing scalable and feasible products. Additionally, collaboration enables the exploration of opportunities to capitalize on new prospects within the pipelines of both companies and academic partners. Currently, we have strong partnerships with the following entities.

Governmental Partners

RegMed XB is proud to bridge the gap between the public and private domains, recognizing that transitioning from palliative care to producing cures is essential to truly make a difference for chronically ill patients. Enhancing the quality of life for citizens and stimulating local economies by fostering new businesses are high priorities for (inter)national and local governments.

Governments are keen to facilitate the development of a world-class ecosystem around the regenerative medicine (RM) industry. RegMed XB receives support from national and local governments to de-risk promising concepts from academia to proof of concept or initial clinical trial stages. This backing ensures that these innovative ideas can progress to market introduction, paving the way for broader societal impact.

Together, we work towards breakthroughs
